Here We Are, Patane’ Bros

Came from Italy 20 years ago and I felt in love with LA.

Its energy, lifestyle, space, nature and sun, its strong cosmopolitan character, its endless flow to create new things makes LA the most interesting city in the world…a special island.

After all this time, I have to admit that I miss very much Europe, Italy in a special way. Missing beauty, the strong common sense, the perfect proportion of wonderful architecture…the history.

No comparison here…I’m just talking about differences and how they impact our everyday life. LA is so huge and tolerant that there is even a lot of space for mediocrity.

  • We live in it.
  • We ALL do.
  • We have it around.

Every place has, of course, good and bad… but,

  • How can we have a Ferrari and eat junk food?
  • How can we have a 5,000 square feet house and use only 1/10 of it, 500 square feet?
  • How can we spend hundreds of thousands for fancy furniture and eat on plastic plates?
  • How can we install fake iron gates on our million dollars house?
  • Or, How can you spend $ 15,000 to change the kitchen counter tops in a studio apartment?
  • Why running to Ikea and give up your dream to create your own space? Nothing against Ikea…though!
  • Are you sure your budget is not enough to call an Interior Designer?

Being more specific…each of us is different. We ALL have different needs, taste, interests, preferences and budget of course. However too many people here do not have a clear idea of space distribution…how to “organize” and choose design elements without being too invasive or stressful. Value and durability of materials. We need to move comfortably…furniture and space need to breath…air…light.

Enjoy, appreciate and live our own space is healthy, essential and necessary!

Architecture in big scale has to serve humanity and Interior Design has to solve people/client stress…”improve life”. That’s why we study psychology and sociology at university.

Design is not just a “trendy thing”.

It’s based on a deep and accurate study of the space – the house where we want to live, the office where we want to work, the hotel where we love to go, the restaurant where we enjoy to eat – The space affects our quality of life consciously or unconsciously.

That’s why proportion is fundamental. Balance and/or Contrast…Happiness is our ultimate goal…right? Especially today everything is so precarious, crazy, momentary and fast. We need a real beautiful cozy space to enjoy, to rest, to recharge, to feel comfortable and why not to have fun too!!
